I watched one of my top ten favourite films last night. Dangerous Liaisons. John Malkovich is the best villain on earth and Michelle Pfeiffer the most open-hearted beauty the world has ever known. My daughter, Gillian, said, during one of the glorious scenes where John and Michelle stroll down a path through a beautiful French garden, he, in his wig and hose, she, in her enormous panniers, 'She obviously never asked anyone for an honest opinion on whether her bum looked big in that or not.'
